Marc A. Wilson, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Marc A. Wilson, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, realized early in his teen years that he wanted to become an OB/GYN Physician.  While on a Career Day Field Trip, he had the opportunity to shadow an OB/GYN and from the moment he witnessed the miracle of birth, his career path was sealed.  The very next day, he enrolled in the Bio-Medical Professions Program at Northeast High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where the foundation of his love for the biological sciences was laid.  After learning all the intricacies of how the human body functioned, in particular the reproductive system, the young soon-to-be Dr. Wilson began zealously pursuing his dream of becoming a member of the medical profession.

Dr. Wilson obtained his B.S. Degree in biology from the University of Central Oklahoma.  There, he received such awards as Outstanding Biology Student and the prestigious Ungerman Four-Year Full Scholarship to the University of Oklahoma Medical School.  After obtaining his Medical Degree fro the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Wilson became the first African-American accepted into the OB/GYN Residency Program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.  During his residency, Dr. Wilson met and married his future wife Chelle Luper. After completing his four-year residency, with such honors as the Marc Vanderslice Award (Outstanding Resident Teacher) and Aesculapian Award Nominee, Dr. Wilson and his wife Chelle moved to Denton, Texas where he began working in private practice.

Dr. Wilson practices with concern for every patient, and believes you can never go wrong in medicine in caring for each patient as if they're a family member.  That dedication hasn't gone unrecognized as he has received several community accolades including being voted Best OB/GYN Physician in Denton County.  The scope of Dr. Wilson's practice is not only well woman's health care.  He has special interest in high risk pregnancies, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, disease prevention, infertility services and weight management.  With an extraordinary complement of skills, Dr. Wilson is able to quickly understand the medical condition at hand, find solutions and execute surgical procedures with a very high success rate.  His practice, OB/GYN Specialists, has cared for nearly 10,000 patients and delivers 600-plus babies per year.  In his 12-year career in private practice, Dr. Wilson has delivered thousands of babies, and has performed over 2,000 surgeries-some them life-saving.

Dr. Wilson is board-certified in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has served as Chairman (four terms) of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.  He is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Medical Association (AMA), Texas Medical Association (TMA), National Medical Association (NMA), American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Denton County Medical Society.  Dr. Wilson has also helped to prepare other physicians for successful completion of their professional oral board examinations through his work with EXAMPRO.

With a strong belief in, "To whom much is given, much is required," Dr. Wilson volunteers with and supports many community organizations.  He serves as the Medical Director of the Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center and serves on the Health, Scholarship and Fund raising Committees of the Eta Mu Mu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Chairman of the Fathers' Auxiliary of the North Texas Chapter of Jack & Jill of America.  He also participates with the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma Alumni Associations.  Dr. Wilson also volunteers his time with the Denton Independent School District as a speaker to middle and high school students on the importance of abstinence and the risks associated with unprotected sex.  Dr. Wilson also served as a Captain in the Oklahoma National Guard Medical Corp from 1992-2003.
